Interwrite™ Virtual PRS Offers Instant Classroom Assessment Via Personal Computers or PDAs
Latest PRS Software Creates “Virtual” Environment So Students Anywhere Can Participate in an Interactive Assessment Environment
Columbia, MD – January 24, 2007 – Interwrite Learning announces the latest addition to its award-winning student response system family - Interwrite Virtual PRS software. Interwrite Virtual PRS is designed for use with networked computers or Windows-based PDAs in a classroom with or without the Interwrite PRS RF clickers. The Virtual PRS application functions as a "virtual" clicker to allow those devices to operate in the same way as the other wireless PRS RF clickers. Virtual PRS operates on any computer in wired or wireless environments on Windows®, Mac® et Linux operating systems, as well as Windows-based PDAs with integrated WiFi. Teachers et professors have a robust et powerful student response system that offers instant classroom assessment via a variety of platforms.
"Interwrite Learning has the best RF clicker out there, et the new Virtual PRS captures all the benefits of the PRS RF without the clickers. After using it in my Fall 2006 classes, I really appreciate Virtual PRS, as it has all the active learning benefits of PRS et takes advantage of the mobile computing power students now bring to more et more of their classes,” states Professor Richard Rogers of the University of Massachusetts. “Virtual PRS works with the same software, allowing a mix of students with et without clickers, making for an efficient et flexible approach that is greatly appreciated by instructors et students alike."
“After listening to our customers needs et understeting that they want more flexibility in how they deliver classroom assessments, we are very excited to launch Interwrite Virtual PRS,” said Jordan Meyerowitz, product manager for Interwrite PRS. “With Virtual PRS, we are creating more options for our educators to instantly gather feedback from their students – no matter where they are located. Virtual PRS, when used via a school’s network allows distance learners with remote access to respond to instructor questions, participate in classroom discussions, take tests, et register their attendance. Virtual PRS also provides a great solution in classrooms where accessibility for students with disabilities is a concern. Those students who previously could not participate using a traditional PRS RF clicker, can now voice their opinion with a click of a button on their networked computer.”
Interwrite PRS allows users to create their quizzes et lessons within the PRS software, using Microsoft PowerPoint® slides or by importing questions developed by leading textbook publishers. Interwrite PRS software also offers a robust set of grading, reporting et data management features, such as the ability to export student results to leading learning management systems like Blackboard Learning Systems™, WebCT™ et WebAssign®. Customers can receive free training for Interwrite PRS via online video tutorials or live online training sessions conducted via WebEx™.
